One of the reasons why Microsoft?s decent Windows Phone platform has failed to ignite in mature markets is because it lacks the backing of some serious high end hardware. The Lumia 930 is a fine device, but it is not an all-out blockbuster. The HTC One M8 for WP is, but it is current alone as a true flagship choice on Microsoft's platform. However, that is about to change it seems. Now that Microsoft has ditched the Nokia branding the company is forging ahead with its own flagship device, the so-called Lumia 940. The device has apparently leaked from a Nokia supply chain factory, which we suppose Microsoft now uses for its own branded smartphones. If this report holds true then the Lumia 940 will land with some of the best specs available. For a start, it will be the first smartphone to have Corning?s Gorilla Glass 4, something that does not actually exist yet. The display will have 1080p Full HD resolution, while other specs include a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 coupled with 3GB of RAM, and a 24 megapixel PureView rear shooter. Considering Gorilla Glass 4 is not yet available we would say this should be filed firmly in the rumor pile and should be taken with a pinch salt. There is no hint as to when the Lumia 940 would potentially arrive, but an early 2015 release would seem most likely. While we are not sure whether this is the real deal, it is all by certain that Microsoft will be working on a flagship device regardless. source: Techradar
