Apple has always said the iPad is among the quickest slates, but the company does not discuss specs or benchmarks to prove its point. Competing with device with beefier specs, the smooth and light iOS has always ensured that Cupertino's slate it always among the fastest on the market. The newly launched iPad Air 2 is no exception according to Geekbench result compiled by Laptop Mag.The chart (see main image) reveals that Apple's iPad is the second fastest tablet on the market, only trailing behind Microsoft's Surface Pro 3, a slate that has full PC innards. Other familiar tablets are on the list, including the NVIDIA Shield Tablet, a device that has the company's Tegra K1 processor, a chipset benched as the fastest in the mobile space. Also being defeated by the iPad are Samsung's Galaxy Tab S and Sony's Xperia Z2 Tablet. Of course, Sony has an Xperia Z3 Tablet launching this month, while Google's Nexus 9 is not yet accounted for, I imagine both will give the iPad a run for its money. It is of course also worth noting that benchmarks are one thing and real world performance another. I am sure the iPad will be extremely fast and fluid, but would be interested in doing some real world comparisons before drawing any definitive conclusions. source: Laptop Mag
