Yesterday we brought you news of the newest Nexus handset that is being built by Motorola. 9to5Google acquired plenty of details about the handset and even built a mock-up of the device from what they knew. Of course, it was not 100% whether the mock-up was the finished article, but today there seems to be some clearer confirmation. The device has been working under the codename Shamu and has now shown up online, placed next to a LG G3. This looks to be a production finished example and shows that the handset will be huge, with its 5.92 inch dwarfing the 5.5-inch and already sizeable LG smartphone. There are still question marks over whether this is the Nexus 6 or actually a new Moto X based phablet from Motorola. For the time being I am breaking with general convention and saying it is the latter. I mentioned yesterday that it is my belief that this device is actually a new Motorola handset, but not one that will be getting the Nexus branding. Instead, this is far more likely to be a device we have heard about before, the Moto S. This is a phablet version of the company's Moto X that is said to have high end specs and be at the cutting edge of the mobile world. The fact the device in the image has a 5.92-inch screen and boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, 3GB of RAM, a Quad HD screen, and more, it seems likely this is the Moto S. As for the Nexus 6. That handset is coming, rumoured to land on October 16th with a 5.2-inch screen. Motorola and Google have done a decent job keeping the smartphone under wraps this time.
