When Sony announced the Xperia Z3 a couple of weeks ago at IFA in Berlin, the Japanese company did not have too many wow factor announcements to make. The Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are just very good handsets and Sony was quick to talk up what is becoming a defining smartphone spec, battery life. According to the company, the Z3 has easily the best battery life of flagship devices, and early tests are proving that to be the case.PhoneArena has a robust battery test that sifts the proverbial wheat from the chaff in terms of which devices give you the most up time. The website tested the Sony Xperia Z3 and found that it is indeed the battery king, breaking all records in its category. It is the best result seen for any flagship, and the Xperia Z3 lasted for nine and a half hours with the screen constantly on, a result that PhoneArena says is much better than its rivals. As the site points out, the Z3 even trumps the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, a handset that has an enormous 4100 mAh power pack. Considering the Xperia has just a 3100 mAh battery pasted into a svelte 7.2mm body, this is quite an achievement too. The only downside of this is that the Xperia Z3 takes a bit longer to charge than other flagships, with a full charge in the region of 4 hours. PhoneArena is not the only outlet talking up the Z3 battery life as we are seeing plenty of reviews confirming the amazing "two day" life of this juicer. I spent some time with the Xperia Z3 and spoke to someone from Sony who said the battery would outperform anything else in the flagship market. I did not have enough time with the device to do a full battery test, but will be getting my hands on one soon, so expect our take on the matter in the near future. Interestingly, PhoneArena is also testing the Xperia Z3 Compact and the first run test blitzed everything out there, including the Z3 proper. The guys are running some back up tests to make sure, but it seems that Sony flagships are the place to be if you need long lasting battery life. source: PhoneArena
