Sony launched the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact at IFA last week and after getting my hands on both handsets I can say that they are very good. Sony is rolling them out quickly too, with both handsets now available in the UK, where certain retailers are even offering them at very enticing prices. The smartphones are not set to land in global markets until early October, but Sony already has the handsets up for pre-order in the UK, and carriers and retailers have followed suit. Both Xperia Z3 variations are fantastic, but I personally prefer the Compact as it seems more of a step forward than the incremental update that is the Z3 proper. Anyway, I Digress. Retailers Clove and Handtec are offering the Xperia Z3 Compact for well below its list price, with the handset available for pre-order for £348. To put that into perspective, Amazon and Sony's official store are selling the smartphone for £429, so I do not know how these retailers can achieve that price, but both are offering the handset in either black, red, or white. It is a similar story with the Xperia Z3 flagship, with Carphone Warehouse (one of the biggest smartphone retailers in Europe) selling the handset for £429. This is another huge saving as Sony is selling the same device for a whopping £549 on its official site, all prices are of course for unlocked handsets. The only compromise with this Carphone Warehouse deal is that the handset is only available in black, so if you had your heart set on a different color you should look elsewhere and pay an extra £120! The Xperia Z3 a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with 3GB of RAM, Sony's quality 20.7 megapixel camera with Exxmor sensor and extra-high ISO 12,800 light sensitivity (the most on any smartphone Sony says). It also has 16GB of on board storage and a microSD card slot. As for the Xperia Z3 Compact, that handset has a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM, and IP65 waterproofing. It will also sport a 4.7-inch 720p IPS screen and will carry Android 4.4 KitKat and have the other features found on the full Z3. If there are any launch discounts in your specific country, we would love to hear about it. source: Xperia Blog
