A new slate made by Google has come out of hiding at the FCC, but could this be the third version of the company's Nexus 7 range? Sadly, this is not a new Nexus at all and is actually a Project Tango slate, meaning most of us will never even get our hands on it.The tablet in the FCC filing has a 7-inch display, a NVIDIA Tegra processer, a global LTE roaming radio, an LG built 2,480mAH battery, and is carrying the product name A4R-NX74751. Those specs tally up to an iFixit tear down of another Google slate, namely the company's Project Tango tablet. Unfortunately that means there is still no signs of a new Nexus 7 this year and it looks increasingly likely that there will not be one. Google has released two nexus 7's in collaboration with ASUS over the last couple of years, but this year it appears the company is waving goodbye to the 7-inch form factor. Instead, and HTC built 8-inch tablet (the Nexus 8) will launch in October, possibly bringing to an end the Nexus 7 series, and maybe even Google's position as an affordable tablet maker. The Nexus 7 was a budget users dream, powerful and cheap, but the Nexus 8 is said to be premium, so powerful and expensive it is then. source: BGR
