Motorola launched the Moto X flagship and the budget Moto G through the summer of 2013 and heralded a new dawn for the company. However, things went really quiet on the Moto front and the company stopped releasing smartphones, aside from the Moto E entry level device. That is going to change according to a rumour that says the American company will blitz the market with new hardware before the year is out.The company certainly has plenty of devices to launch at its Chicago based press event on September 4th. Motorola will roll out the Moto X+1 flagship and a new Moto G, while the Moto 360 smart watch is also due to land. However, apparently Motorola will potentially launch another five smartphones alone before the end of the year, even ignoring the possibility of a Moto tablet. The purported devices are the DROID, the DRIOD Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto X+1, Moto G, Moto X Play, Moto S, and a new Nexus device. However, it is my understanding that not all of those handsets are scheduled for a 2014 release and that some of them are actually the same device. The DROID handsets from 2013 are a year old so it is not crazy to think Motorola is readying their replacements. Considering the whole DROID line is ready for a refresh we can see all of those handsets launching in 2014, with October a likely launch window. We already know about the Moto X+1 and new Moto G, Motorola has all but confirmed that those two particular handsets will be arriving in September. The Moto X Play sounds like a new variant of the current Moto X, and it sounds to me that it could be a media oriented or rugged version of that handset. Again, not beyond the realms of possibility. The Moto S and new Google Nexus device are more interesting though, as they could well be the same handset. Currently running under the codename Shamu, the Moto S is a high end smartphone that is higher spec?d than the Moto X+1. The Nexus 6 is also said to be high spec'd and could well be the Moto S as we doubt Motorola would launch two similar devices at the same time. source: Android Guys
