Sony has been a little quite of late and has let other companies have all the smartphone limelight. Of course, the Japanese company launched its Z2 flagship and other devices earlier in the year, but Sony does have something lined up for this summer. The new device in question is the Xperia C3, a mid-range smartphone that is trying to tap into the selfie trend with its high quality front facing snapper. There will be a few companies jumping on board the selfie smartphone wagon this year, including HTC with the Eye. While Sony's tech is always solid, it is the looks of the Xperia C3 that may make it a popular choice for those interested in this trend oriented market. Like all Xperia handsets, the C3 looks elegant and oozes a certain high quality appeal that puts many others to shame. Indeed, yours truly believes that pound for pound and device for device that the Xperia range is the best looking in the smartphone world. Putting opinions aside though, the C3 has a professional look and Sony has also done a good job crafting a mid-range smartphone in terms of hardware. That means nothing here will blow your socks off, but if you want solid performance the Xperia C3 should fit the bill. It packs a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor paired with 1GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, 8GB of storage (expandable to 64GB), and a 2,500mAh battery. Also along for the ride is Android 4.4.2, dual SIM capabilities, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. That is a solid package, but as the C3 is targeting the growing selfie crowd the most important aspect of the device is its front facing camera. In that respect Sony has done a good job with a 5 megapixel camera with a wide angle lens and LED flash, while the company's software includes auto retouches and copious amounts of editing tools. The Xperia C3 will launch in China first, but it will almost certainly find its way around the globe throughout the remainder of the summer, which is when we will also learn the exact price of the C3. source: Sony Mobile
