Moto Maker helped to put Motorola back on the map, while it also gives the flagship Moto X an edge that rivals devices simply do not have. However, Moto Maker was a US exclusive for a long time before rolling across the Atlantic to the UK. Now the service has arrived in Germany, just like Motorola promised it would way back in February.

The company promised the customization service for Western Europe "soon" and has started delivering on that promise by rolling Moto Maker out in the UK first and now Germany. We suspect that Maker will be getting a launch in other European nations such as France and Spain over the coming weeks and months too.

Moto Maker is Motorola's customize before you buy feature that lets consumers pimp their Moto X in the purchase process and have it delivered within 4 days. The breadth of customization has been widely praised as it can make no two Moto X handsets the same, with details such as button color and even wooden back plates available. The suite has been successful and helped make the Moto X a prominent device in the market, while Motorola has won plenty of goodwill because of the service.

If you are in Germany and have been holding off on buying the X until Moto Maker arrives then now could be a good time to jump in. However, with the new flagship Moto X+1 set to land in the next month you may be better off waiting for that handset to arrive as you can choose between the new device or a more affordable original Moto X.
