At some point, "Prime" became the leaked codename for smartphones released shortly after their flagship counterparts as being even better than the supposed hero devices of their smartphone manufacturer. The so-called HTC One M8 Prime is the latest such device to be tagged in that manner, and it's sure to upset people who have already embraced the very good HTC One M8.

According to the self-proclaimed "leak artist" evleaks, the image that you see above is the HTC One M8 Prime. It's rumored to be similar to the One M8 because it has Duo camera and stereo front-facing speakers, but several other aspects of the hardware are said to be a noticeable improvement. After an HTC executive tweeted that "a well-known leaker" was wrong about two leaks, evleaks took that as a slight and began replying with a number of tweets laying out the following specs:

- 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor
- 3GB of RAM
- 5.5-inch with 2560x1440 (WQHD resolution)
- Composed of an aluminum and liquid silicon composite
- Has a waterproof coating
- Cat 6 LTE radio for faster download speeds

Release dates are only pinned as "soon," which would be a tremendous disappointment to anyone who owns an HTC One M8. For those who waited to upgrade or weren't pleased with some aspects of the device, a bigger and more powerful version is supposedly in the pipeline and arriving soon.
