Verizon XLTE launches to improve network in these 260 markets

Verizon Wireless today announced that it is going to improve the network in half of its 500 4G LTE markets by using its AWS spectrum to deliver higher capacity and improve performance in busy areas. The new "XLTE" is the result of Verizon acquiring licenses of AWS in key markets and using that enhanced spectrum to increase capacity, the amount of data that it can transfer to the growing number of smartphones and tablets accessing Verizon's network. Verizon says it will have a profound effect on reliability in congested areas like sports stadiums, conventions, commuter areas during rush hour, and more.

XLTE will be compatible with 27 current devices on Verizon's network, including the Apple iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Motorola DROID Mini, LG G2, and more. About 260 markets already support XLTE and more markets will be added by the end of the year. Here's a list of the markets launching today:
