When HTC eventually announces the One Mini 2, the smaller and likely less powerful version of its flagship One M8, the back of the device will be without one of the distinctive features of its big brother. As evidenced by two alleged spy photos of the devices posted separately by evleaks and PhoneArena, the One Mini 2 will have only one camera rather than two.
HTC debuted the second rear camera on the One M8 as a way to gain better depth in photos and introduce some pseudo-3D tricks when viewing those photos on the device. While the company seems to be pushing for its Duo Camera to become a mainstay of design by introducing an SDK for developers, the One Mini 2 does not fit into those plans at the moment. This also confirms suspicions that the Mini 2 will follow the trend of a weaker "mini" version rather than an equally powerful phone made to be smaller like the Sony Xperia Z Compact.
Other rumored specs for the One Mini 2 include a 4.5-inch 720p display, a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0. The device will be sold in grey, silver, and gold, and it might have some accent colors according to a photo from PhoneArena. The color injection is less reliable than what evleaks has posted.
