Windows Phone users will soon gain the ability to browse files stored on their smartphone. Windows Phone manager Joe Belfiore has announced in a reddit AMA that Microsoft will soon introduce a File Manager app for WP 8.1. According to Belfiore, the app will debut later this May, though that's just a target date for Microsoft and not a guarantee that it will launch at that time.
Belfiore also posted photos of the upcoming File Manager, which looks as one might expect a mobile file explorer from Microsoft to look. Users will be able to browse either the internal storage or SD card and see how much space is free or already consumed. Searching for a file name is also included. The app will create and navigate through folders, show icons for different file types, and include the ability to relocate items to another folder. Here are a few screen shots showcasing the appearance.
