Samsung Galaxy K zoom debuts with 20.7 MP camera and 10x optical zoom

Samsung has made its oft-leaked Galaxy K Zoom smartphone official, debuting the new camera product with a 20.7-megapixel lens and 10x optical zoom at a press event in Singapore. The Galaxy K Zoom continues the trend of Samsung's Android-based Zoom cameras that have 10x optical zoom. This time, Samsung opted for a 20-megapixel lens that also has Optical Image Stabilization to cut down on blur and help improve low-light photography. There's also a Xenon flash at the back of the device in case users need to take pictures in the dark.

The upgrades in camera quality are obvious, but Samsung was also wise to improve the shape of the K Zoom. The grip portion that made for a nice camera feature but terrible phone design on previous products is gone. In its place is a more straight-forward body that measures 16.6mm, or 20.2mm when including the camera ring. The phone weighs 200g and has a texture similar to the "band-aid" back of the Galaxy S5.

Samsung has not released details on price or availability. Here are the Galaxy K zoom specs:
