Yesterday offered us our first look at what may be the back of the HTC One sequel, the M8. Since then, another pair of images supposedly showing the M8 have appeared online, providing a glance at the front of the phone. The reliability of this rumor is shaky at best. It doesn't come from a familiar trusted source, and people have gotten very good at covering their tracks with Photoshop or staged photos. Two red flags from these supposed images is that one of the photos has no buttons. Not just the capacitive buttons that we expect to not see, but also no virtual buttons, which are visible in the second image. The blurring around the edges of the device also looks generated rather than natural, so I'm guessing that these are fakes.

With that said, on the off chance that these are real, the images show that HTC is fine tuning rather than starting from scratch. The photos might show what is expected to be a device closely resembling the original HTC One. The HTC M8 likely has a 5-inch 1080p HD display, a Snapdragon 800 2.26 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a dual-sensor Ultrapixel camera. The stereo front-facing speakers are also present here, but the hardware navigation buttons. I want to believe, but I'm not very enthusiastic, especially after this tweet from an HTC employee. "Somebody has been photo shopping...." indeed.
