Facebook today revealed that it has created a new reading app called Paper. The app is beautifully designed, connected through your social network, and launching only the iPhone. To put it simply, Paper is basically an alternative to Flipboard.
Paper aggregates stories from the reader's friends, favorite news sources, and interests. When friends post links to news articles, it gathers them into a full-screen news reader that also shows photos, videos, and articles from categories like science, food, design, or sports. Facebook mixes those links with news articles from various sources and shows them as stacks of large cards and tiles that can be navigated through touch gestures.
Apple iPhone users will be able to download Paper beginning February 3. Android users will have to wait to know when (or if) a version will be available to their devices. In the meantime, here's a demo video highlighting Paper.
