Android 4.4 Kitkat didn't set the world on fire like past updates to the Android operating system, mainly because this was more of a revision than a massive overhaul. Of the small number of phones that have been revised, three standout: the Google Nexus 5, Moto X, and HTC One Google Play Edition.

Each handset offers something different than the other. With the Moto X, buyers get a smartphone that is ergonomically sound and breaks from the mold of giant smartphones with very little compromises. The HTC One on the other hand offers great sound courtesy of its front-facing speakers, and it has a nice aluminum body to match. The Google Nexus 5 has a beautiful display and a very fast engine tucked inside of a comfortable plastic finish.

We've already reviewed all three of the aforementioned smartphones, but shipping with or updating to Android 4.4 has provided some small improvements to the software, behind the scenes performance, and the camera since then. Below is a video examining some of the benefits of each device from the perspective of a new buyer. There's also a gallery of post-4.4 photos to take another look at the camera.
