Samsung apparently couldn't wait until CES next week to let the world know about the follow-up to its Galaxy Camera, the aptly named Galaxy Camera 2 that loads Android 4.3 Jelly Bean onto a point-and-shoot digital camera. The Galaxy Camera 2 features a 16.3-megapixel sensor with BSI CMOS capable of taking 16-megapixel photos (or 12-megapixels when using wide mode). It also supports 21x optical zoom, 23mm wide-angle shots, optical image stabilization, and f2.8 to 5.9 in its lens.

Like the original Galaxy Camera, the second version stands out because it includes Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Samsung Touchwiz, allowing it to be connected to the web and to the Android apps that come with it. The camera can access the web via Wi-Fi or pair with a smartphone through NFC. It can also share photos automatically, use the phone as a Remote Viewfinder and photo trigger, use 28 different pre-sets for photos with Smart Mode, and rapidly take five photos for self-portraits. Other software features include Multi Motion Video to slow down or speed up motion in a video.

Details about price and availability have not been disclosed, but Samsung plans to share more information in the near future. We'll be at CES to take an up close look at the Galaxy Camera 2 there. In the meantime, here's a quick rundown of the specs:
