Nokia has announced that it is now updating the Nokia Lumia 1020 to run the Lumia Black software update that adds some small but important fixes to its own brand of Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Lumia Black is focused on plugging the small holes missing from Windows Phone that Android and iPhone users take for granted, such as the ability to use orientation lock. That, along with a few other features are now available for download.

Lumia 1020 users can wait for an update prompt or check for a message by going to Settings > Phone Update. Here's the list of what has been added:

- Lock the screen between portrait and landscape orientation to prevent phone from changing view when you tilt it.
- A new App Switcher menu that makes it easier to close apps
- Use custom ringtones for messaging and email
- Nokia Glance Screen now shows notifications if there are messages or calendar events
- Bluetooth 4.0 LE to use less battery when connected to Bluetooth devices
- Nokia Smart Camera and Pro Camera merged to Nokia Camera app
- Camera, battery, and other miscellaneous features have been improved
