Check-in service, friend tracker, and food or bar recommendation service Foursquare has undergone yet another redesign to better suit the iPhone. In the latest edition of Foursquare, the app takes on even more of the iOS 7 features, improves its speed, and recommends places even when a user is not in the app. Foursquare previously embraced the flat design for iOS 7 but that dealt more with tweaks. Version 7 features wholesale changes that include a rewritten app that loads faster as result, new text, and a redesigned hidden menu. The switch between Worldwide and Nearby friends is now bigger, and the overall design is cleaner and easier to read when launching the app.
Foursquare has also changed the Nearby view to diversify what's shown. That can include more promotions for nearby restaurants or places that it recommends based on popularity for certain meals or friends. The app now includes push recommendations for all users. Previously available to some users on Android and iOS, the feature uses location to realize when someone is near a place that may be of interest or ventures into a new city. The frequency of the updates can be turned off or switched between Quiet, only in a new town; Wanderer, only when in an unfamiliar neighborhood; and Explorer, any time something ?great? is nearby.
