Today's a good day for anyone who has been contemplating on buying a Moto X. Motorola says it will drop the price on the Android 4.4 smartphone to only $349, and it will discount accessories as well. Well, at least it will once its websites stops crashing.
Motorola.com has buckled under the weight of traffic caused by deal seekers. Motomaker.com also crashed and has temporarily stopped taking orders. Users can create designs that they wish to order and email the configuration to themselves, but they will not be able to complete an order until later today. Motorola plans to notify users on Twitter once the websites are capable of handling the traffic. (Service should be restored in a few minutes according to its most recent tweet.)
An off-contract Moto X or a 16GB model created on Motomaker costs just $349 (32GB is $399). Quantities are limited and this is a temporary sale. Accessories for cases, Soul headphones, wireless earphones, battery packs, and bluetooth speakers are also on sale. Customers get 30 percent off by entering the phrase "THANKS" at checkout (without quotes).
