Redbox Instant, the video streaming Netflix competitor that Redbox launched with Verizon earlier this year, has released an update for its iPhone app that adds support for AirPlay streaming. Sadly, there are some limitations.
As Engadget notes, AirPlay works only for streaming video, not anything that has been downloaded. That's an obvious disappointment for anyone turning to Redbox for its on-demand and subscription libraries. More concerning is that the app stops playing after incoming texts and notifications or if using another app other than Redbox.
Redbox Instant says that the latest update also fixes unnamed bugs and improves the recommendations engine to be more accurate about the types of movies that it suggests members watch.
