Qualcomm, best known for supplying the chipsets that appear in most smartphones and tablets in recent years, has announced that it will become a direct player in the consumer market with the release of a smart watch set to go on sale on Cyber Monday.
The Qualcomm Toq is an Android-compatible watch that has uses Qualcomm's Mirasol display that's designed to reflect light and always be visible whether indoors or outdoors. A front light is also included for when the user is in the dark. The watch supports a pair of stereo Bluetooth headsets, wireless charging, audio controls for music, viewing notifications, and answering or rejecting calls from the watch.
Toq goes on sale December 2, 2013. The watch will retail for $349.99 and will be sold directly by Qualcomm at toq.qualcomm.com. A mobile device running Android 4.0.3 or later is required to use Toq, though Android 4.3 will deliver the best performance.source: Qualcomm
