Pebble, the Kickstarter darling and one of the few successful smart watch concepts introduced last year, has unveiled a new notification system that works much better with iOS 7 devices like the iPhone 5S.
Unlike the previous version that limited Pebble notifications to messages and email, Pebble watches connected to an iOS device can route any alert that appears in the iOS 7 Notification Center. That includes appointments, Twitter or Facebook notifications, and even messages from WhatsApp. As long as users choose to show in Notification center, Pebble will finally show updates that were previously possible only through a jailbreak.
Pebble also released an SDK 2.0 that makes it possible for developers to create new apps using its APIs. This should enable more health and fitness apps, weather alerts, and travel or transit information. Developers can get more information here, and Pebble iOS users can expect to see an update in the App Store at some point today.
