Twitter for Windows Phone didn't receive design overhauls like its iPhone and Android counterpoints in recent weeks, but it has been updated to include a few handy new features, including some that are unique to the Windows Phone platform. Twitter today added a new feature that post "interesting tweets" on a lock screen. It also added the ability to pin a search term to the home screen, which should make it easier to jump directly to favored hash tags or keywords that users have saved to their accounts.
There are a few other design changes, namely the name dark theme that now lets Twitter users choose to switch to a grey and black theme rather than a grey and white. The colors for icons and the top bar remain unchanged, but the timeline view inverts colors to have white on black text instead.
Other new features include:
- Getting notifications when a specific Twitter account - like a loved one, celebrity, or contest - tweets
- Improved Search and Discover tasks that highlights "great content"
- 13 new languages supported for translation into preferred language
