Verizon Wireless has sent invitations to a July 23rd press event at which the carrier will "Unveil the next generation of one of their most popular family of devices." That unmistakably refers to the "DROID" brand, which means next week will likely feature the unveiling of the Motorola DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX, and Droid Mini.
Verizon's next line of DROIDs have appeared in leaks for several weeks, including a recent reveal that the DROID MAXX may have 48-hour battery life, greatly extending the amount of time that consumers can expect to do everything from browse the web to play music. Based on recent history, the DROID MAXX would be the DROID Ultra with a much stronger battery. The DROID Mini on the other hand would be a scaled down version meant to meet the needs of the customers wanting a smaller device.
Previous leaks have floated August 8 as a possible launch date for the DROID MAXX and DROID Ultra, so the short-notice invitation Verizon sent lines up with the company looking to host a press event in order to quickly have its next leading Android phones from Motorola ready to hit shelves next month. We'll find out at next week's event.
