Google Chairman and former CEO Eric Schmidt has a track record of saying things that grab headlines, but Schmidt is today garnering attention for talking on a phone. Not just any phone; he's been spotted using the Moto X. At a recent tech conference, Schmidt was spotted using the still unreleased Moto X without making any attempt to hide it. Perhaps the long line of leaked photos and reports, which are now confirmed thanks to Schmidt using the same device that first popped up on the internet months ago, convinced the executive there was no point in trying to hide something everyone already knows about. (Or perhaps, he wanted to be seen to drum up more excitement about something everybody already knows about?)
Regardless of his motives, Schmidt's appearance with a white Moto X that appears to have a carbon fiber pattern on the back also confirms that the Moto X will give customers the option to customize their phones with different colors and build materials. Moto X backplates for much flashier colors have appeared in recent weeks, and we expect Motorola to announce how customers will be able to tailor the phone to their preferences soon.source: Gary He (Twitter), via: Phandroid
