Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablets series launching July 7, prices start at $199

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Tab 3 series of Android tablets will debut in the United States beginning July 7. That's when the Galaxy Wi-Fi versions of the Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch models will go on sale starting at $199.

The new Galaxy Tab devices were announced in previous weeks during a busy stream of product unveilings. While Samsung has invested heavily into its smartphones to among the elite in terms of hardware features and capabilities, the tablets are moderately built. The Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch model has a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch 1024x600 LCD display, 8GB of internal memory, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It will cost $199, the same as the year-old but more enticing Google Nexus 7.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch model is more powerful thanks to a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal storage, and an 8-inch 1280x800 display. The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean tablet will cost $299.

Samsung's largest of its three Galaxy 3 tablets is the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. It has a 10.1-inch display with a 1280x800 resolution, a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor made by Intel, 1 GB of RAM, and a 6,800 mAh battery. The tablet will cost $399.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will begin tomorrow, June 25. The tablets will be available in white or gold brown at Best Buy/Best Buy Mobile, Amazon, Wal-Mart, h.h. Gregg, Office Depot, Toys 'R' Us, P.C. Richard & Son, Fry's, Newegg, Sears and Samsung.com.
