LG and Qualcomm confirmed yesterday that the next Optimus G device will run the super-powerful Snapdragon 800 processor. Hours later, the company began sending invitations for what might be the unveiling of the next great Android phone. It's possible that the Optimus G successor could be the device unveiled August 7. There's nothing to confirm that obviously, but it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination considering that the original LG Optimus G was announced in September of last year, so the device is due for a follow-up. We had a favorable view of the Optimus G series, and we were even more enthusiastic about the Optimus G Pro. The presence of a Snapdragon 800 processor, which promises to aggresively push the performance limits of smartphone chipsets, makes it possible that the next Optimus should continue LG's streak.
