As it prepares today to release the Nokia Lumia 925 in Germany, Nokia also announced that it will soon introduce a new clock feature for the lock screen on the 925 and other Lumia Windows Phone 8 handsets.
An upcoming Nokia Glance Screen will have a clock display that removes the need to touch the power button to see the time. Nokia did not elaborate on how the feature works, so it could be that the clock is always visible or only appears when it determines that the user lifts up the phone. Glance Screen also has a night mode to reduce glare, warns of low battery levels, and can double tap to unlock a device.
Details about Glance Screen's impact on battery life are also not available yet, but it's doubtful that Nokia would implement this feature on a large display if it didn't think that it could minimize any potential drain. Glance Screen, which can be disabled in settings, will first appear on the Lumia 925 as a beta application. It will later be distributed to "most Windows Phone 8" Lumia devices, but specific details about the models that will be supported have yet to be announced. Nokia says that most Lumia device holders can expect to see Glance Screen included with the "Amber" Windows Phone 8 update being released this summer.source: Nokia
