The Toshiba Excite line of Android tablets has been refreshed with new displays and more powerful processors. The new Excite Pro, Excite Write, and Excite Pure all have hardware upgrades and Android 4.2 software to go with other unique features.

Excite Pro

The Excite Pro matches the Nexus 10 by ratcheting up its 10.1-inch screen resolution to 2560x1600, the highest display yet for a tablet of this size. To match the enhanced video capable when viewing a 300ppi PixelPure display, Toshiba improved sound quality by adding Harmon Kardon stereo speakers and engineering audio enhancements for better music and voice communication.

The tablet also includes an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and ports for microUSB and micro HDMI. Toshiba will sell the Excite Pro for $499.99 beginning June 25.

Excite Write

The Excite Write is mostly the same as the Excite Pro. It has the same hardware specs for everything from processor to storage to camera. The only thing setting the two devices apart is the Excite Write's inclusion of a TruPen stylus. The Write features a digitizer display that makes the TruPen take fluid notes or draw and save the content to an included productivity app. The Excite Write is basically an Excite Pro with enhanced input capabilities and will cost $599.99 when it goes on sale June 25.

Excite Pure

The Excite Pure is the lesser of the new Toshiba tablets because it's designed to cost less. The device uses a Tegra 3 processor instead of the newer chip, and scales back in other areas as well. The Excite Pure has a 10.1-inch 1280x800 display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 3-megapixel rear camera. It has stereo speakers, micro HDMI, microUSB, and microSD slots. The Excite Pure goes on sale June 25 and will cost $299.
