Samsung has made its new Galaxy Tab 3 device with a unique processor official. Following its track record of introducing Android tablets of varying screen sizes, Android users looking for a tablet with a 10.1-inch display now have a new option in the Intel-powered Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch.

The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch has a 10.1-inch WXGA display with 1280x800 resolution (149ppi). The 1.6 GHz dual-core processor breaks from the norm of other Galaxy tablets by having a processor from neither Samsung nor Qualcomm - it uses Intel. Confirming previous rumors, Samsung has opted to use an Intel processor rather than one that is ARM-based.

Samsung made some peculiar choices elsewhere in the Galaxy Tab 3, namely in its camera selection. The 10.1-inch model features only a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera, which is below the camera combination found in the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch model. The 10.1-inch also has less RAM (1GB) but it has a much larger battery that reaches 6,800 mAh. It also supports Bluetooth 4.0, MHL TV Out, USB 2.0, WiFi Direct, HSPA+, and LTE.

Samsung has not revealed when the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-powered Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch will go on sale.
