Nokia confirmed the existence of the Lumia 928 prior to its upcoming launch event, and the company is now confirming that the Windows Phone 8 device has an 8.7 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera. To showcase the device's video capabilities, Nokia has posted a promotional video showcasing how the Lumia 928 compares to the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III.
The video predictably focuses on nighttime filming and optical image stabilization (OIS), two areas in which Nokia's Lumia products have excelled above the competition. However, Nokia made a major marketing blunder the last time it fudged the results of its promotional videos, so people will have good reason to be skeptical about these results until the phone is in the hands of independent testers.
If one accepts the premise that Nokia would not be foolish enough to try to trick users again and the footage in this video is authentic, it shows that the next Lumia device will once again be great at low-light video capture. We'll naturally wonder how it compares to newer models like the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S 4 rather than popular phones from last year, but early signs are encouraging.
