Samsung just launched the Galaxy S 4, the company's defining high-end phone for 2013, and the Korean manufacturer today announced a new device for the midrange market, the Samsung Galaxy Core that's set to launch later this month.

The Samsung Galaxy Core sticks to Samsung's usual mode for midrange devices: it's smaller than the premium Galaxy S line, comes in single or Dual SIM models, and features a scaled-down version of Samsung's Motion UI. The Galaxy Core has a 4.3-inch display with only a WVGA (480x800) LCD resolution. It has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a 64GB-capable microSD slot.

A 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera handle photo and video capture duties on the Galaxy Core. The phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with several Samsung software additions, including: Smart Stay, Smart Alert, S Voice, ChatON, and Samsung Hub.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Dual SIM model will go on sale later this month in select markets. The single SIM model goes on sale in July.
