The BlackBerry 10 Facebook app is less than stellar, which is evident by the 1-star rating the app has in BlackBerry World, but BlackBerry is working on changing perception of the app with a new update posted today. Facebook for BB10 has added some of the features available on other platforms and improved a couple of connections on the device.
Facebook has added the following features:
- Friends Nearby uses the phone's location to see which friends are near, as well as view locations of places that a friend has visited and checked in at a certain time.
- Photos can now be tagged while uploading, and images posted to Facebook by others can be saved to store on a BlackBerry Z10.
- Events now tracks Facebook Event invites, enables responses, sends invites to others, and allows for the creation or viewing of Events. Users can also post photos and tag guests.
- Sharing has been improved to share links to other places, including email, BBM, or other compatible apps.
The Twitter app has also been improved to build on the changes made in last week's update. The Connect tab now shows favorites, follows, and mentions in one place; photos and article summaries appear in tweets; and the number of times a tweet is favorites are now apparent.
