MetroPCS today announced a new Android device to its 4G LTE portfolio. Continuing its trend of low-price midrange smartphones, the new Huawei Premia 4G joins the network for the low price of $149 without contract.

The Huawei Premia 4G has a 4-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone features a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash. As the 4G name implies, the device is capable of accessing 4G LTE in the markets that MetroPCS serves. Customers who sign-up for a compatible 4G plan can also turn the phone into an LTE Mobile Hotspot.

MetroPCS also continued its trend of introducing phones with older software; the Huawei Premia ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has access to the standard Google Mobile suite and apps in Google Play, and it also includes the MetroPCS joyn app to enable instant messaging or photo and video sharing with friends.
