BlackBerry 10 launched with more than 70,000 apps available in BlackBerry World, but an influx of apps in the past two months has led to the new operating system quickly making it to 100,000. The Android Market (now Google Play), iPhone App Store, and Windows Phone Store did notreach 100,000 apps so quickly, but BlackBerry 10 had the obvious advantage of debuting at a time when the mobile app ecosystem is more mature. It was also helped by a flood of apps ported from Android.

The BlackBerry Z10 has access to tens of thousands of apps, though several prominent names like Netflix and Instagram remain unavailable. BlackBerry notes that it already has big names like Amazon Kindle, CBS Sports, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. It also has several more high-profile targets set to arrive in "coming weeks," including: CNN, The Daily Show Headlines, eBay, eMusic, Maxim, MLB at Bat, MTV News, Pageonce, PGA, Rdio, Skype, Soundhound and Viber.
