Verizon was not among the list of dozens of carriers throughout the world who said they would carry the HTC One, but new rumors suggest that Verizon will be the fourth of the major U.S. carriers to offer the HTC One later this year. AllThingsD reports that an unnamed source says that Verizon will begin selling the latest HTC smartphone one or two months after AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint begin selling the phone. Since the One is expected to debut in the U.S. any sooner than April, that means Verizon's version might arrive in May or June.
Three of the four major carriers immediately announced plans to support the HTC One, leaving Verizon as the odd man out. It appeared as though the presence of the HTC DROID DNA might decrease the carrier's desire to offer the HTC One, but rumors suggest that is no longer the case. Gaining the support of all the major U.S. carriers, especially second-place Verizon, is important for HTC's chances of success. HTC's profits have consistently fallen since 2011, and the Taiwanese manufacturer rests its hopes on the HTC One as the smartphone that will spark a comeback.
