BBC iPlayer Windows Phone app coming later this year

A BBC iPlayer app for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8 is on the way, but it may not be the kind of app users were hoping to see. The BBC today announced that it has reached a deal with Microsoft to "wrap the BBC iPlayer mobile website together with our media player" and create an iPlayer app for Windows Phone. The announcement says iPlayer will be a shortcut to the website with Live Tile support, so it will not be a native app. More details about features will be announced closer to the app's release, which is said to be in "the coming months."
