Nokia today announced that Windows Phone 7.8, the software update designed to give its earliest Windows Phone 7 users features previously available only to Windows Phone 8, is now available for download. Nokia confirmed that the Windows Phone 7.8 update is now available for the Nokia Lumia 510, Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and Lumia 900 with an unlocked phone.

Update notifications will begin going out first to unlocked devices today, but carrier-tied devices that have been approved by operators will begin receiving the notifications over the next few weeks. The update will offer new features like being able to resize Live Tiles, enhance the lock screen, launching a mobile hotspot, share through Bluetooth, various camera improvements, and support for the Nokia City Lens app.

Windows Phone 7 users can search for the update by going to Settings > Phone Update > Notify me when new updates are found.
