Mobile World Congress is less than a month away, but HTC isn't waiting that long to announce its next smartphone. The Android and Windows Phone 8 handset maker is hosting an event February 19 in New York City to unveil a new product days ahead of the large trade show that was expected to be its launchpad for its 2013 line-up. HTC chose MWC as the place to debut its One smartphone series, but it appears that the company will host an individual event ahead of MWC in order to maximize attention on the device.
HTC did not reveal what smartphone it will announce at the event, but it's likely to be for the rumored HTC M7 smartphone. The M7 has a design somewhat similar to Windows Phone 8X but is an Android Jelly Bean device running the next iteration of Sense UI that appeared in recent leaks. MobileBurn will attend the event, so we'll know if that's the case soon enough.
