Google updated its Currents reading app for Android to include a refined user interface and breaking news last month, and the Apple iOS Currents app has also been treated to new features and a slick new design. Currents has changed its interface to feature a new sidebar that provides instant access to topics organized by categories like tech, sports, or entertainment. It also added new gesture navigation to swipe horizontally to move on to a new Edition or swipe vertically to browse through the same Edition.
Currents added content to go along with the app's redesign. There's now a Breaking News section that posts new stories from select sources. The section is powered by Google News and shows the latest trending stories from the site's U.S. or World sections. Articles feature full-length text and support the standard Currents feature of sharing to social networks or read-it-later services.
