Google Maps is finally back on Apple iOS. Following its disappearance from the iPhone after Apple elected to deliver its own mapping solution with the release of iOS 6, an official Google Maps app for iPhone users debuted in the App Store late last night.

The new Google Maps for iOS, which requires iOS 5.1 or later, returns all of the features that iPhone users previously enjoyed, and debuts the one that they most requested - turn-by-turn voice navigation. Google Maps provides voice guided driving directions, including with live traffic data displayed on the map. It also provides directions for walking or reaching a destination by bus, train, or subway.

Google Maps for iOS has achieved full parity with its Android counterpart. The app includes 360-degree panoramas of more than 100,000 businesses, Street View to see ground level images of cities, and hi-res satellite imagery. Google account data can be synchronized with the app to find saved searches, share history with desktop searches, or navigated to favorite locations. Google Places data is integrated into the app, so users can find points of interest using ZAGAT and Google+ recommendations as well.
