LG has spent the better part of a year promising and then relenting on its promise to deliver Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Optimus 2X. The company last said in July that the Optimus 2X would not be upgraded to Android 4.0, putting an end to the hopes of many users who had grown tired of the long wait to move beyond Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
It appears that LG has waffled on its pledge once again and is actually delivering Android 4.0 to devices in Europe. Several users on XDA report that their Optimus 2X is able to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich using the LG Mobile Support Tool. The V30a update appears to be available only to unlocked models, not carrier-tied versions of the device. LG has not made any official statements on an update being available, but several users report that their phone can access Android 4.0 now. More information may arrive soon.source: XDA Developers Forum, via: GSM Arena
