Sony Mobile released Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to its Xperia P, Xperia U, Xperia go, and Xperia sola smartphones in September. Sony today announced that it is releasing an update to that software that provides improvements to the Ice Cream Sandwich software and performance on each device. The latest software is more stable; has more reliable connections for Wi-Fi, tethering, and portable hotspots; better NFC and messaging; and an update to the camera that enables better photos and video captures.
Sony has made the update available immediately for unlocked versions of the Xperia handsets. An over-the-air update will be sent to devices that have already upgraded to Android 4.0, but Xperia U, Xperia go, and Xperia sola devices still on Android 2.3 will need to visit the Sony Mobile update page to download the update through its desktop companion apps for PC and Mac. Availability of the update might vary by region and model number, but Sony plans to have the update sent where carrier obligations will allow it.source: Sony
