Skype has updated its app for Apple iOS to add support for merging Skype accounts with a Microsoft account. Following Microsoft's decision to phase out Messenger in favor of Skype, users of the video-calling application can now use Skype to chat with Messenger, Hotmail, and Outlook.com contacts. Apple iPhone or iPad users can sign-in to Skype using a Microsoft account and the data will then be merged with their Skype account.
Version 4.2 of Skype for iOS also includes the ability to edit instant messages by tapping and holding down on a message. It also has added emoticons to insert in IM's and animated emoticons for devices with a retina display. The requisite bug fixes have been included in the update, but the changelog does not specify which errors this update fixed.
