HTC CEO Peter Chou has refuted claims that his company pays Apple $6 to $8 per device sold as part of a recent patent settlement between the two companies, calling media reports on the agreement "outrageous." Chou acknowledged that HTC pays Apple a fee but said the company is pleased to have reached a deal to end cross-continental patent litigation and trade complaints that have been a nuisance to the company over the past two years.
When asked about the settlement by reporters at a KDDI product launch event in Japan, Chou gave the following response:
"I think that these estimates are baseless and very, very wrong. It is a outrageous number, but I'm not going to comment anything on a specific number. I believe we have a very, very happy settlement and a good ending."source: Reuters
