More than 150 million people can now access AT&T's 4G LTE network, double the amount of people the network covered at the beginning of the year. AT&T managed to increase its reach by expanding its footprint in dozens of cities in recent weeks. In addition to the new LTE markets launched yesterday, the carrier added the following cities to its list of supported markets:
- Charleston, S.C.
- Columbia, S.C.
- Columbus, Ohio
- Corvallis, Ore.
- Downriver Wayne and Monroe Counties, Mich.
- El Paso, Tex.
- Eugene, Ore.
- Fairfield County, Conn.
- Greater Mobile, Ala.
- Greenville, S.C.
- Jonesboro, Ark.
- Pensacola, Fla.
- Portland, Maine
- Saratoga & Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
- South Bend, Ind.
- Toledo, Ohio
AT&T says that it currently delivers 4G LTE service in 103 markets as of today, and more expansion is planned before the end of the year. The carrier remains on track to cover more than twice as many people by 2014. AT&T says that it will invest $8 billion to deploy a network capable of covering 300 million customers.
