Amazon today announced that its Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet is now shipping to customers who pre-ordered the device when it was first announced in September. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9, which has an 8.9-inch screen and a dual-core TI OMAP processor, is available starting at $299 for a 16GB model or $369 for 32GB. The tablet is on sale now on Amazon.com, but buyers looking to get their hands on it sooner can visit Best Buy stores tomorrow. RadioShack and Staples will begin carrying the device "in the coming weeks."
Amazon also states that the 4G LTE-capable version of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is on schedule to begin shipping November 20. The price for that model will be higher than the Wi-Fi only version, but the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G will offer more flexibility and always-on internet connectivity. The tablet will cost $499 and a one-time payment of $49.99 to get:
-12 sessions with 250MB a session of data
- A $10 Amazon Appstore for Android credit
- 20GB of Amazon CloudDrive
