Google has released its latest report on the current distribution of Android smartphones and tablets that accessed Google Play in the past two weeks. As expected, Android 2.3 Gingerbread remains far and away the most widely-used version of Android, reporting 54.2 percent market share despite nearing the second anniversary of its release date. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich assumed the second spot with 25.8 percent of devices, followed by Android 2.2 Froyo at 12 percent. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean reported only 2.7 percent share, continuing a longstanding trend of the latest version of Android being available to a small portion of users.
